17th Annual 2009 DIVA Conference
Date: 11/20/2009 TO 11/21/2009 Time: 6:00 PM
Event Description: The Black Child Development Institute (BCDI), Inc. - Sacramento Affiliate coordinates the D.I.V.A. Conference each year on behalf of young women, ages 12-17 years old. The acronym “D.I.V.A.” stands for Determined, Intelligent, Valued, African American young ladies. This conference was developed with the purpose of introducing young African American middle and high school females to information about education, health, career choices and self esteem related issues in order to achieve a more successful life. The D.I.V.A. Conference members are dedicated to providing positive speakers, motivational workshops, plus activities and role models that promote healthy choices for improved lifestyles. During the past sixteen years, the D.I.V.A. Conference has provided this information to more than 3,000 females. Our conference workshops attract over 250+ teens and their parents. Parents participate in separate workshops in an open forum, discussing ways to inspire their children to excel in school, health and well-being. We have acquired some of the best workshop presenters, local politicians and speakers that are in the Sacramento community and other local areas, such as Stockton and the Bay Area.
