Policy Programs and Events

The Metro Chamber produces a number of programs and events annually that help shape and promote the Metro Chamber's public policy positions.

Capitol-to-Capitol Trip
Running since 1970, the Metro Chamber's Cap-to-Cap Trip is the largest local chamber of commerce lobbying trip of its kind in the nation. In 2006, more than 400 business and government leaders travel with the Metro Chamber to Washington, D.C. to lobby federal officials on a broad array of public policy issues of concern to the Sacramento region. The Cap-to-Cap Trip helps prioritize regional policy priorities and serves as an unparalleled networking opportunity among the Sacramento region's top business and government leaders.

State of Sacramento County
This year, the Metro Chamber added a new event that highlights the current issues of the region's largest county, Sacramento. Topics included a report on the performance of county departments and a look at gang activity and response. A panel, left, that included (from left) District Attorney Jan Scully, Stockton Boulevard Partnership Executive Director Richard Greene and Sheriff John McGinness, suggested how business can aide in the suppression of gang activities. | Event Report
